Stuck In Thought

As a ghost does haunt the page a memory does shadow
are thoughts.
Regret a river which waters flow like poisen for the tortured soul.
Living in a state of yerning for a false return.

To many times ive journeyed down this river.
Cast stones apon it's edge.
As a fool with no more to gain and so little to lose.

Moments hold no path for the future and im far from a
senimental sort.
Fires need air and embers need nothing.
Time is moving without regret.

I trace my thoughts in swirls of once proud colors that now
exist in blue and gray.
Nights are my vessel.
As my thoughts do slip with hours gently away.

A very poignant, introspective write, John, and it's nice to see you here. I guess "Nights are (your) vessel," because of the hour you posted it. I have a sleep disorder; what's your excuse? LOL Love, Carolyn
