Strive

As I strive to get ahead …
I fall farther behind

When will I learn that it is not my doing
But my depending on You, Lord
That keeps me from the pit
Of debt and desperation

There is nothing that I put my hand to
That if You have not blessed will not
Produce prosperity

Yet my soul flourishes in riches
The kind given only by You

So why do I still attempt to
Satisfy my flesh,
When my spirit flies high
Above the heavens in joy

Your child …. When will she learn
Lord, how patient You are with her.

Thank you for making me Your child
Without You I would be nothing on my own.
