)
I cannot numb your hurt,
though I know it exists.
And deep within your heart,
an emptiness persists.
I cannot share your loss;
grief's a personal pain.
And you teeter on the
brink of sane and insane.
I cannot dry your tears
or take your pain away.
And depression may come;
although it will not stay.
I cannot lie; and say
things will be as before.
For you need to accept;
you will see him no more.
I can only say that
death's a natural course.
And to lean on your faith;
for God's love is its source.
I offer you solace;
when reality's stark.
And a friend with a match;
to strike against the dark.
