Strigoi

darkness no longer frightens, no monsters lurk here, save one save me, the mirror is blind to it, but these walls will someday speak, testify of the terror, when the seduction was sealed, then came the horrible truth, it fed on their affection, no less than it did their blood, lying to itself it thought, "I can ease their pain and mine", it never changed the feeling, all that was left of life, guilt, abomination to God, by Him eternally damned, cursed to walk the earth alone, nothing sought could slate the thirst, blood to keep the dead walking, deathly sick circular game, raison d' etre, none to find, yet there was still one hope left, conscience broken but intact, was it proof of something more, this cannot go unanswered, put spikes in corpse, then coffin, one quick thrust, then the curtain, no feeling left, a pity, forgiveness gives no rest, I should suffer for my sins

Mesmerizing poetry, Luke, just as everything else you've posted here. Dark, bleak, impossible to ignore.

I couldn't ask for any higher praise than that. I hope that behind the dark, bleakness people can catch a little flicker of hope. I wrote this to explore my own sense of guilt, and also the question of whether a soul can come back from utter darkness. I thought the vampire was an interesting way to explore these ideas and wanted try a new take on the vampire mythos.
