Stricken

Before you i was content
Unhappy but a smile was easier to fake
You infiltrated my mind
Seduced my body
Engulfed my heart
Freed my soul

After you I’m drowning
The hands i once held
Refuse to reach for me
The arms that once secured me
Refuse to embrace me
The lips that used to whisper i love you
Will no longer breathe life into my body

I’m alone in a somber darkness
Forced to face my demons
Lost and broken
I am completely and utterly stricken

hey congrats on having your first poem featured. As my first poem was and I just wanna pass this on to you. it is what a Baptist Preacher once told me. Once you defeat one demon the devil sends a bigger one. But hey its no big deal may God surround you with His Angels as He does me!

about your poem: I am stricken on how you piled up the loneliest feeling, after one is gone. I'm the kind of person I don't have to fake a smile...... however, I had a man who once took it all for me. the content of me being me.... hope your demons are not as bad as mine... xox~ Linda
