Streets of Solitude
The unmistakable ache settles within me
My curtains tightly drawn since I awoke
I know I am unprepared for what I may see
I envision narrow streets engulfed in smoke
I do not wish to walk amongst the tall trees
To step into the world, I would surely choke
I sit alone, contentious and unhappy
With a silent dream to return to the oaks
