Strategic Advice
Don’t tell her she can’t, whatever you do,
or that is the path that she will pursue.
Her eyebrow will raise, ideas will spin.
It won’t be too long before she must begin.
Something inside her will seek to disprove,
the notion that anything, “Simply won’t move.”
At times it is handy. At times it is fun.
She’ll tackle whatever they say, “Can’t be done.”
The effort involved is not her concern.
Some times I watch her, if only to learn.
She’s always consistent, if you study her style.
Challenge her ways, and she’ll practice denial.
Experience reveals the way she’ll react.
I’ve used it before, as a matter of fact.
I told her, “No way, you can’t possibly be,
in love with a wannabe poet like me.”
