Stranglehold

Surreptitiously its
Tendrils caress,
Reaching out gently,
Ardently intertwining
Nonchalantly
Gaining ground.
Little by little, it will
Eclipse and smother
Heinously,
Overwhelmingly pernicious if
Left to become
Deep-rooted.
