So very touching! The very expression, 'baby boy' explains the sad plight of those afflicted with Huntington's Disease.

Valsa, it is a very rare occurrence which mostly is in families, but it can seem to hit a family unawares because it has been in the family but in lower numbers (the number of repeats on the CAG) and no one has seemed to have it then it shows up. Our grandson has one repeat less than a person with juvenile HD has so he really has been slightly different all his life. Sara K

Thank you, Andrea, for stopping by with congrats. It is hard on us, but it is super hard on him as his illness gets worse. Most of the time once the chorea starts showing up, they have between 10 and 12 years to live. There are some meds to help with the symptoms but nothing yet to slow it, stop it or clear it up completely. I know God heals, I know He can heal, I know He will heal but I don't know if it is in His will to heal. Thanks for the visit. Sara K

This poem is quietly devastating—absurdity in the first stanza gives way to heartbreak in the second. The shift from surreal humor to emotional distance is jarring in a powerful way. It’s raw, intimate, and hauntingly human. Strong, brave work.

Danny, when he put the garden hose which was on in his diaper at first, I was shocked, then humor filled my body because of the expression his face, then the diaper shot off like a bullet and it was the funniest thing I had seen in a while. LOL..Now there is not much funny around here. Some days are better than others. Thanks for the visit. Sara K

Yes, they do have some meds to help with Alzheimer's Disease but so many people are told they have Alzheimer's Disease, but they don't have that but some form of dementia and now they have a blood test to confirm that it is AD. Sara K

This tore at my heart, Sara. I had never heard of the disease before. Looked it up, and how awful it is. Thanks for the poignant write, Gershon

Thank you, Gershon. I am glad that you looked it up. I know if they keep on working and doing research that they will find a way besides people who have to cease from having children or have invitro fertilization to eliminate the disease. Our grandson has chosen to not marry and have children. As of today, they don't have anything that can help the illness or slow it down. Sara K

Thank you, Sara B. So many people don't have any clue what HD is since there is only about 1 in 30,000 people born with it in the USA. It is in clusters in families because it is an inherited mental disease. Sara K
