Stranger
I never knew your name
I feel as though I was to blame
I don’t know where you are
It seems we are so far
I’ve tried to search
I went so far as to pray in church
Now someone is in your place
You never saw my face
He’s better than you
He held my hand the day at the zoo
He’s been to every recital and every play
In first grade I made him a sculpture out of clay
Someone else was in your place when I hit my head
Or there to tuck me into bed
You were supposed to be there for me
Instead you decided to flee
