Strange Combination

We all are a heady mix of the
sacred and the profane
We move down life's path
Like waves rolling in
from a dark ocean
Blinded by daylight, terrified
of night
We ask for peace, happiness, and love
Yet even as the question leaves our lips
We doubt of its' fufillment
Watching the TV screen
We are transported
Yet we are not yet free
of earthly constraints
Since it matters to you
Then by all means
Continue to reach out
to others
The one comfort in our dilemma
Is that we are not in the end
totally alone
