Strange Bird: My Life In 9 Lines

Unwanted 'ugly-duckling', pushed from nest early
Spiraled down to unspeakable depths, crushed
Astonished by unexpected love and care, grew wings
Awkwardly flapped to outlandish heights
Tragedies hit, like plate glass window mid-flight
Expectations shattered, painful shards embedded
Weight of life's strain, lost dreams, broke wings
Fell back to earth, grounded, exhausted
Scarred but somewhat stronger, re-learning to fly

I know what you mean, I've always had very "diverse" friends, too... I guess it's a writer's trait- we like to be where the people & events are interesting! :)

I am sure this is the kind of poetry the judge was wanting from us. Wish I could have thought of such an expressive way to do my life story as you did!!

Thank you for the compliment! ;) I wasn't quite sure if this was the right track to take... but I got "metaphoric" out of desperation, as it was the only way I could figure to condense my life story! lol (Brevity is not one of my talents!...)
