STRANGE AFFECTION

You smiled and time just stopped
the air turned soft and unsure
I didn’t mean to care this much
but love became my cure

You speak and walls start breathing
your silence pulls me in
Strange wild sweet affection
to hurt and still call it sin

My mind protests my heart obeys
a war I lose with quiet grace
Every wound your warmth has left
still feels like home I can’t replace

So here I stay half whole half gone
enchanted by your gentle sin
Stranger joy than loving you
and losing just to start again
