Story Teller

story teller


I am not a poet
I just write words on paper
I am not a musician
never learn to play the guitar

and please don't call  an author
I never could have a best seller
but if you want to call me something
just call me a story teller

I am not a teacher
was never good at arithmetic
and I am not an actor
because some people  said
I’m a little too dramatic

and  please don't call me  rich
because i don't have a wine cellar
if you want to call me something
just call me a story teller

yeah I like to tell stories
from all points of life
some are very funny
and some cuts your heart like a knife

I am not  someone famous
me and the camera never really click
although my name Ishmael
in the great novel Moby dick

I am from the island of Trinidad and Tobago
a fact that i so proudly claim
land of the humming bird ,scarlet ibis
the pitch lake and sugar cane

I am not a very smart person
I leave school at age seven
and I believe in there is a god
and do good and you will go to heaven
 
I like to take walks on the sand
And in mayaro beach I saw a shark
And I like to look up at stars
And how they twinkle in the dark

And when I am standing outside
I like to see planes with propellers
so if you want to call me something
just call me a story tellers
