Stormy Day At the Beach
Lightning crackles at the dawn of light
The mother seagull squawks at such a sight
Whipping wind whistles through the trees
As the branches pull wind tears the palm leaves
Thunder shudders and rattles the seas
Waves crash against the soggy sand where I sit on my knees
The storm sounds angry, the wind howls
Rain pelts my back as I stand and the thunder growls
I look to the sky, dark, swirling and foul
That’s my cue to run to my car
I’m parked by the pier, so I don’t have to run far
What a shame the rain is I wanted to wait for the stars
Laying in soft sand gazing is my favorite past time
Trekking across sandy beaches, finding small bluffs to climb
Getting lost is like finding home all over again
Making me feel like my existence isn’t in bane
Now I’m just soaking wet like the miserable storm clouds above
Ruining the day at the beach that I so love
