Storm Drain
As I rest to gather strength,
To avoid the coming rush,
My arms are stretched at length,
But it seems a stretch I must...
A storm drain has the tendency,
To slowly pull you back,
But the lack of your dependency,
Helps you gain what's lost in slack...
So you tether on the edge,
As it tries to pull you in,
Drifting closer to the ledge,
Of the wave you're trapped within...
While what's falling all around you,
In the current passes by,
So that it cannot be bound to,
Let the truth become a lie...
And when the flow's subsided,
You can stand against the rain,
Until the flood that coincided,
Finds a pathway to the drain...
