The topic sentence:

"Don't ignore the stop sign on a big yellow school bus even if you
are in a hurry, the cops might be around the corner watching you."

Stopping for School Buses

I gave up my drivers license because of my poor eyesight,
          but after two surgeries I have my eyesight back;
so, I must take the driving test again and learn all rules,
    especially all the traffic signs and lights.

Stop, yield, no parking, no left, etc turn, school bus stops,
           the buses are in a range of sizes but are all yellow;
with SCHOOL BUS displayed, we must stop 20 meters away,
  either from the back or front and watch for kids.

Some buse have red flashing lights, some have stop sign arms,
            we must remain stopped until the the bus is finished; 
even so, be careful for children walking across the street,
   and children running and darting out suddenly.

Often there is a school bus crossing guard, with a stop sign,
             stop your car on the line, remain until everyone;
has crossed and then proceed slowly, kids are unpredictable,
    so be ready to stop your car at any moment.

Miranda Hawley September 29, 2024 at 7:35 PM I am younger than 50 and last year I've had to have cataract surgery on BOTH eyes! I can't imagine having to have had given up my drivers license then relearn all the road rules. My bus doesn't stop anywhere where there are crossing guards, but only one girl we pick up lives directly in town next to the school. That said my bus is special needs only bus and we are not taking the kids, any of them to regular public school. Congrats on your win in my contest. Yes, during the part of the year where the buses are out, we definitely need to be on the lookout for the buses and the children but then in summer the responsibility to watch for children is ever present with us. I hope that you pass that test with flying colors. I would not want to have to retake it at my age.
