I lie in bed at night unable to sleep because the noise in my brain is so loud.  But if it weren't there, what would be...maybe nothing.

I just want it to be quiet. Stop the music, stop the noise, Stop my brain from playing With her everlasting toys. But I must think this through. If I stop the music, stop the noise, Will I stop my brain from playing With her necessary toys?

I can definitely relate. 12 hour shifts and nights with split days. My synopsis is just because you need to, or want to, doesn't mean you'll sleep. (Sometimes a beer helps too! 80) pat

Pat, I like the beer idea but we don't have any. Thank you for your comments and glad you could relate. Beverly

very good question. ONe to make us ponder. Not exactly on topic, but I almost always have a pop tune playing in my mind when I am most needing to just go to sleep at night. Can't turn it off!!! That is when I would say STOP the noise!!

Thank you Gordon. It's been nice here at the snow line going into fall. Gets more beautiful each week. I try to read a quiet book and that helps. I agree that playing on iPad doesn't work. Again, thank you for the nice comment.

Some nights I have the same problems. I usually get back up, but then again I do not have to get up in the morning and go to work either. I think the solution is to sit in the dark QUIETLY relaxing about 30 minutes before bedtime. That is supposed to kick in the melatonin. Love the write because I can relate, Mrs Beverly:)

Thank you Daniel. Many times I have gotten back up. I've tried many things but have learned to wait patiently and just try to rest even if I'm not sleeping. I think a lot of people can relate to this, and it runs in my family.
