Stolen Lives

They robbed us of our jewels and made us poor Our souls are dying as we spend eternity locked in their cages The government threw away our key, shutting sunlight away From us: yet giving us darkness Some of us hear our young bloods crying Yet when we reach out, it was only a faint image We see what's not there, and want what we've left behind The days are stretching as far as the Mississippi River And we search for something, something that a lot of our past Brothers searched for, but without luck They remain blinded by the wrong path they follow, being in Control of the Devil that drown them into the dark world However, the things I search for are the Truth, Hope, and Forgiveness I have learned that the Truth is God, the Truth is the right Way into God's embrace, that so, we'll be forgiven, given hope And have an everlasting life 'Cause the justice system we have now, I don't agree with it I will exercise justice in walking with God I will exercise justice in getting out of the cycle I will exercise justice by saving lives, teaching and leading others These people judge us because of our race, heritage, and culture But one judge I will stand before when the time comes is God Till the end of this story comes, I will sit in this empty cell Not reminiscing, but praying to the only [true] God for No more stolen lives
