Stint
Hanging by a stint
this morning.
I can kid myself
no more.
The frequent rests,
the loss of breath.
don't lessen but
increase.
I could plot the curve,
divine the date, but
found it more agreeable,
in a Native American way,
to welcome each day
as a gift.
