Made me think of ancient quote better the slap of a friend than the kiss of an enemy. Love is not always packaged as we would suppose.Being someone who is a survivor Of domestic violence I am not speaking here of the laying on of your hand in violence but that someone who truly loves you will tell you the hard truths ,the slap as it were to wake you up from a deep sleep in a burning house.Enjoyed your poem.And yes sometimes it is as soft as a mothers kiss on the brow of her slumbering baby.
