Stick-To-It-Ness

Always been blessed with “stick-to-it-ness” Got it from my dear old dad He once rode a bike three hundred sixty miles Took four days each way, egad! At any age, that's quite an accomplishment But my dad was sixty years old From Montreal to Toronto and back again A feat so gruelling, so bold A wee one of ten back in nineteen forty-six Didn't hit me till many years later The impact of his enormous accomplishment It then seemed a whole lot greater Been telling this proud tale wherever I go Bout inheriting his “stick-to-it-ness” Don't think I can even come close to matching The resolve and dedication he possessed © Jack Ellison 2013 Sadly, he died of cancer at the young age of 67

The quatrain king strikes again lol. What a great tribute to your father. That is quiet a feat, but I'm sure you have accomplised many things, such as your potraits you mention of the presidents that would impress him, or anyone else for that matter. Nice poem.

Love this one! My Hubby keeps reminding me what I'm trying to stick to... (When I forget- which is often!) Isn't he sweet... Your Dad did quite an accomplishment... At 60 I can't cross the room without tripping... And without my Hubby I'd never find my way home... Not to mention the road hogging going on as 3 big dogs, and two big cats come along... Not to mention my ability to pick up strays... The poor baby's... 2nd thought my Hubby wouldn't let me go... We have too many pets already... LOL

It sure was an amazing feat, the impact of which didn't hit me until I was all growed up! I still miss him! Big hugs, Jack And say hi to that hubby of yours... sound like a keeper!
