Steps and Lessons

Steps and Lessons
There lies
		Steps that go down
					And down
							And down
To the Quiet Pool that Is my Soul
What are the steps?
But lessons learned day by day
Week by week
Year by year
So when does one find this deep and quiet pool?
Hmm
Better yet be the question of what lessons will lead one to the Soul of Me.

A thoughtful, quietly resonant free-verse meditation. The descending, indented lines beautifully enact the inward journey toward the “Quiet Pool,” while the measured progression from day to week to year gives the reflection a lived, accumulating wisdom. The closing shift—from when we arrive to what lessons guide us there—lands with genuine humility and depth.
