Steps

Foot steps came down the hallway,
I opened my eyes to see
My Grandma's small soft image,
As over me she leaned.

I'm here to tell you something,
She whispered in my ear,
I wanted so much to hug her,
But she wouldn't let me near.

She looked so young and pretty
In a glamorous big hat
White pearls around her neck,
Enhanced her dress of black.

She said "I'm here to tell you
I'm feeling well, and strong
She blew a kiss across the room,
And in a moment she was gone.

This encounter will never leave me,
In my mind it will always stay
The night she came to see me
Was the day she passed away.
