Stepping Past the Stops

Stepping past the stops, looking for the nots 

Finding friends and family by stepping past the stops 

Forgetting my mistakes, for getting what it takes 

Forgetting every truthful lie, from your broken alibi 

I get another step past the stop 

Another foot towards the top 

Stepping past the stops looking for the nots 

Stumbling thru my foggy brain 

Searching for the right refrain 

I get another step past the stop 

Another foot towards the top 

I get another chance to say I tried 

I get another chance to prove you lied 

I get one more foot towards top 

One more step past the stop 

Counting keys and making noise 

Taking walks and finding toys 

Using thoughts, expressing words 

Hoping that the point is heard 

Stepping past the stop, looking for the nots
