Step From Darkness

I waste on you no more those foolish tears,
You are not worth the crying I have done,
No more I say, it’s time I faced my fears,
And step from darkness into golden sun.
Those years I thought of you as number one,
Now echo as distant memories should,
You are my past, your time has died and gone,
My life had moved away from where you stood.
I see the wonder of all that is good,
In the dancing eyes of another’s smile,
Now looking back as I have learned I should,
Realizing you could never make life worthwhile.
I take the hand that stopped and dried my tears,
For in her heart I placed my hopes and fears.
