Steel Face

I once wore a thick, black mask That made me seem tough, bad Covered my eyes, nose, and mouth So I could not see my foes Or smell the stench of their insults My downturned mouth shut My silence suggesting I was okay Unaffected by their attacks Until one day the mask fell Revealing my thin, peach-colored skin And I quashed them with my true self More powerful than my armor
