Stay

Some things are not meant to last only to stay and linger in memories past of moonbeams and shadows rainy days and rainbows and puffy white clouds that drift by way too fast I stayed in this dream too long my heart and soul singing a song I thought I heard your heart singing along But when I awoke, I was alone and the whispers of love no longer belong Shreds of mirror glistening in tears of glass A jewel now lost in the long tall grass sweetly laid down in swirling colors that make me dizzy and take my breath from me Let me unlock the door Stay with me just one second more Hold me tight and kiss me fast Then I'll close my eyes Say my hard goodbyes For this love was never meant to last
