Statesman

Among the other thugs in his circle
he is considered to be a statesman
Like them he compromise his values
if he has any to get what he wants from
whomever, he plays the fence on both sides.

As statesman for the government
he is never home and always away
from his made up family and fake wifey
But he needs her to defend the homestead
like Penelope in Odyssey and bail him out of trouble
because his sensible family members are too exhausted
to support him and his dilettante and deals made in Hell.

The years go quickly and his government pension exist only
in his head because he is a property of the State
the bail and bonds men are betting that he will muck it up
and can collect due to forfeiture and his negligence to appear in court.

As statesman owned by the government
he is never home and always away
from his family who loves him and his children who do not understand
that Daddy is locked up in the state penitentiary again
Like the boy who cried wolf his lies about him being innocent has played out.

Life is passing him by and he will not receive an accommodation or retirement
party for all his years with the government
he will be a brief memory in history
his prison number will be documented along with his criminal record forever
and ever.
