State of the Union
Let's pretend
That these embers of war
Are fireflies on a summer's night;
A new beginning,
Pheromones in flight,
A chase without carnage,
A capture without the loss of knowledge.
I want to love again
In fertile fields,
I want skies that glow from stars,
I want these civil scars
To return to normal skin.
In all this cacophony,
Of the brutal clash of words and guns,
Let's tune the barrels of death
To chime with synchronized cadence,
And echo forever into an unworried night.
