Startled Awake

I lay in my bed On my side of the room And sigh deeply He has to be asleep now It's so late I hear him groan Maybe not... Has he been waiting for me? I can't believe I'm here Alone With him Sure we are on far ends of the room But so close Alone Can I really be here? Nothing will happen He is more respectable then that I'm wide awake Until I hear the faint sound Of his snoring Finally I relax And drift off to sleep... "Mmmm..." I'm startled awake Why did that sound so close? Where am I Oh my gosh He's right here Lying next to me Alone Together His arm draped over my tummy Breathing on my neck Legs pressed against mine Alone He must have come over here I nudge him He wakes "Hi.." he says "Hey" I say back He pulls me a little closer I stay quiet for a moment... "Look I know that this is what... What you were... hoping for... But I can't... will you please Go back to your bed I need space... I'm sorry" He's quiet... Finally without a word He gets up I turn over to watch him leave And then realize That I'm lying in his bed...

Hi Jen, I liked the twist at the end! Great writing, I could see the story clearly in my mind. Loved it! :) Have a great weekend, Amy

This isn't about me just so everyone knows, it just kind of came to me the other day, and I agree, I made the girlfriend seem like the antagonist in this write. ~Jen~
