Starting Lines
Finish lines are cool but starting lines are better. It's the first moment everyone says, "We're in this together." Whoever finishes first, gloats. Second is envious. Third is sick of bronze. Fourth says, "At least I tried." Fifth is labeled too slow. Sixth is told, "Should've stayed home." No knew what seventh endured just to make into the stadium. And no one wants to take the time to even remember who eighth place was.
Well, I'm eight. And I've got to tell y'all, y'all were fantastic. I'm so proud of us, but all my finish lines are bitterly lonely. Would you guys do me a favor? Do y'all mind if we start again?
Most people will say not a chance. But will you?
