Notes About The Poem

Stars of Clarity

"Sometimes things only become clear when we are old enough to grasp what the universe is trying to tell us." ~~The Poet~~

Had it been labelled charity?
Gazing at that star of clarity.

Watching it make its trajectory
Drifting through my memory.

Long lost from my childhood days,
Motherless, a father to praise.

Though I was told of her love,
Left me, now lives in heaven above.

I recall his love as he took care of me,
But he left me there when I was three.

To play with orphans and waifs like me.
Was the last of my father I was ever to see.

Gazing at that shining star of clarity,
There creeps a ray of unfamiliarity.

Now though what seemed prison bars,
The orphanage window frames the stars.

I see many stars of clarity shining fair,
A vison of him handing me that tiny bear.

It was cold, not cuddly as a bear should be.
It wasn’t for play, unsure why he gave it to me.

Now, all these years later I gaze at that tiny bear,
Looking deep into it, I see him standing there,

Giving me something he knew would last.
In crystal clear clarity his love was never surpassed.

Thanks S.O. Some poems just write themselves and turn out the best. This was one such piece. Unfortunately I can never predict if my muse is in the mood for taking over or not. Your words of encouragement are appreciated.

This is such a soul touching, poignant story that really speaks to my heart. I absolutely loved the flow of your word weaving and how you’ve done storytelling in such a poetic manner with brilliant rhymes and alliterations. Especially the ending is brilliant. Congratulations on your win, well deserved, thank you for sharing

Dear Wen, Your exquisite style incites a torrent of lucid fantasies which are delicately intertwined into your enthralling couplet. The touching memories of your father's caring supervision are amazing. Your poetry provides a vivid picture in which you lock your gaze on a small bear, demonstrating an unrivaled depth of compassion. The imagery you produce is simply amazing. Great poem, BOL with the contest

Sweet Lasaad, we are both starting with a handicap as Empress expressed her preference for free verse poems for this competition, but your exquisite work will easily overcome such a handicap and sail through to the winners circle. I entered knowing mine wont, but I as you know I enjoy writing in rhyme so that's all that matters. Thanks for lovely comment BOL & best wishes from Wen
