Staring Out To Sea

I stood upon the shore and stared, I stared far out to sea. To where the horizon met the sky In perfect symmetry. The shore, it was desolate A lonely place to be. Seagulls called in plaintive cry As though they pitied me. Alone, I listened to the waves As they lapped upon the sand. How I wished that you were here And we were hand in hand. But you were taken from me It was not our destiny. So there I stood, on my own. Just staring out to sea.

Hi Gary. I have done 'exactly' that in that way, sitting on a rocky beach where I collected rocks in Maine. What a beautiful poem I can relate to. If you don't see me comment on your gorgeous poetry for a bit, it is because I am sick. Thanks.
