Starfish Wink
Listen to poem:
The starfish that litter the seabed
are the stars that fell
from abandoned Christmas trees;
are the leftovers
of shooting stars that missed;
are stars that have blown off the pages
of homework teachers praised.
On the ocean, when you look up,
you can see the stars blink,
if it is dark enough.
When you peer down, you can see
the sea-stars wink,
if you stare hard enough
to draw their attention.
