Star Sight

Did you see the stars last night?
I could not,
Clouds had been truant,
and the sky overcast,
they had put an umbrella,
and hidden my stars,
I am a gazer who has eyes set,
every night on the canopy above,
for their sheer brilliance and light,
my eyes soothe as I venture my sight,
to get an inner glimpse of star light,
it stretches farthest,
and instead of tiring rests,
these clouds are my enemies,
they have been there for three days,
that is why I am frantic,
and asking you if you have seen my stars,
I would be relieved only when you tell me so,
that you sighted them well,
and found them smiling,
ringing festive bells.
