Star boy
Star boy
They say heaven gained another angel when someone dies
But when it comes to the death of black lives
We say the universe gained another star
Because to us
It represents their light and love
Shining down from above
Each star a story of loss
Each star a story of pain
Each star a symbol of what being black costs
Each star has its own name
A story of a new star gained
An innocent black boy whose rights were taken away
The right to live
The right to be accepted
They saw him as a threat to society
And because of his skin his life ended in a tragedy
He wasn't ready
The weight this carried was heavy
Filled with a melancholy love
The star boy from above
Looks down at his grief stricken mum
He thinks she's the real victim
She's the one who lost her son
She no longer has any children
He wants her to know he Is always with her
A constant reminder of how he will be with her forever
And he decides after all the years she looked after him
He wanted to give her something special
Better than money something infinite
So at night as his mom was in bed
Going over everything
That happened
He placed a kiss on her forehead
He knew she had felt his presence
By the smile on her face he knew she treasured this moment
And knowing it brought her happiness
He knew he could finally rest in peace
