Standing Up As One
The chasm between our political minds grows wider every day;
Verbal attacks on party rivals have become the accepted way.
How many more congressmen must be shot before this tactic is undone?
Citizens must demand a change in plan by standing up as one!
The “house divided” analogy is coming back into play;
Candidates want to win at all costs – too high a price for us to pay.
The damage done by negative campaigns ensures nobody really has won;
We must put a stop to this festering pot by standing up as one!
You don’t build yourself up by tearing your opponent down;
It shouldn’t be this way!
We don’t vote FOR a candidate; we vote AGAINST someone else;
That really is not okay.
To save ourselves and restore the pride of being an American,
Campaign reform must be reborn so we can all stand up as one!
