Standing On My Swing

Wonderful memories so clear;
That little boy flying through air,
Reaching for stars above.
Could I soar beyond them?

That golden moon called to me,
I'm here waiting child.
Come up and play,
Feather light you'll be.

A soft breeze cooled my face,
I flew and wondered.
What's holding me back,
From traveling up there?

Was it this tree rooted in ground?
Was it these ropes tied to it?
No, that wasn't the answer,
Something unseen held me.

Something I couldn't touch or feel;
Was it like love?
Mother Earth embracing me,
Holding me safely here.

What a strange world,
For that boy's contemplation.
His body held in suspension,
While mind flew everywhere.

My thoughts glided to places unknown,
Wishing to go there.
Still, my spirit knew all along,
That someday I would.
