Standing Here Today

I thank the bottle I thank the bars
Every single broken heart I've ever had
It may seem strange to thank the pain
But with time, it really ain't so bad

I guess the loss and the hurt
In their own way both deserve
A mention, cause they both helped to make
Me into the man.......
That's standing here today

The lost loves that once lingered
Even the one that got away
Regrets I have plenty, but it seems
They've all taught me in a way

Some lessons keep me guessing
But most were a blessing
Lookin' back now, that's what I'd have to say
They've all helped make me into the man
That's standing here today

Watched my parents love start fading
Damn near every night when I was 10
I took to drinking by 15
Can't really say I've ever stopped since then

If it wasn't for the lonely
And me doing my own thing
I'm not sure, I'd be living life this way
So I thank it all for the price I've paid
To be standing here today

The lost loves that once lingered
Even the one that got away
Regrets I have plenty, but it seems
They've all taught me in a way

Some lessons keep me guessing
But most were a blessing
Looking back now, that's what I'd have to say
They've all helped me become the man you see
Standing here today

Without it all
I sometimes contemplate
If I'd be standing here today
