Standards

I set my standards high,
Because, I've had the lowest
Of the lows.
Distrust, anger, and abuse,
That I was forced to tolerate.
There was no way out for me back then,
But now I can decide.
Some say I am too picky,
But it's hard to find the middle
When you've started, from the bottom.
