Stand By Me

Stand By Me.

Could you hear their meaning.
And all they had to say.
If only they were given voice.
If there was a way.

When the gates are open.
No place for them to hide.
Would your arms be outstretched?
Or hanging by your side?

Would you look away?
Or turn a deafened ear?
Or would you move a little closer?
So that you could hear.

Would you put distance in between us?
Turn and walk away?
Or stand by me quietly?
To see what they would say?

As they travel from my heart.
And my eyes begin to leak.
Would you hear their meaning?
When my tears begin to speak?

You remind me of Byron who once wrote something like this: When I shall meet thee How shall thee greet me? With ..........or tears??? nice poem, suspense begins and ends in the last.
