Notes About The Poem

Stalin

Stalin

Where are you Stalin
Is winter
We have deeds to perform
Equality to give
Winters snow shall freeze the mind
 Christmas troikas
To the dachas’ of death
We all morn and laugh
The communism dream
Hides inside a vodka bottle
I want to dance with you Stalin
Kiss your cheek
For if I live in the past
I can rest my bones
Knowing Putin does not yet exist
I may hide under the ruble
My Tatu displays my displeasure
At all of you
You not gonna get us
In the end

Red Army dreams shall fade away

Thanks for the explanation, Arthur. I don't always get the reference, but when it "clicks" it's a great feeling. I see what you did there with Tatu and their song "Not Gonna Get Us", now ...

Thank you, and I know that sometimes is not easy to get double meanings or cryptic messages in poems, I think thats the fun of it too, seeing different meanings and being able to ask each other the meanings intended! Thats for any poems, but I do know I go off in tangents! cheers!

I'm surprised to find a poem called "Stalin" be considered "Light Poetry" ... "I want to dance with you Stalin, kiss your cheek, for if I live in the past, I can rest my bones knowing Putin does not yet exist" ... it sorta sounds like you're saying you prefer him over Putin. ... wasn't Stalin one of the most famous dictators? Am a trifle confused but I do like your last bit ... "Red Dreams shall fade away"... it's an exercise in futility. Right on.

I dont like Stalin or Putin. I was trying to say, it didnt work under Stalin and it will not work for you either Putin. "My Tatu displays my displeasure,At all of you,You not gonna get us" Tatu is the girls above, a russian band, that neither leader would like much! :)

Where are you? Putin scares me. I have friends from Ukraine that I pray for. Also, please explain your website from first poem on your list - maybe send me a message. I guess I'm ignorant because I thought that while Stalin had good intentions that everything went wrong - I know, refresh my world history. Good write, Arthur ... CayCay

... ah! as penetrating as nette says ... it takes me to those caves of madness ... which one of those madnesses? stalin's madness? putin's madness? or the natural madness of mankind? can we, then, say that the poet is the legislator of the madness of mankind?
