Stair Steps (Children 2 Years Apart)

There they are, each little step delicately placed.
Made, not with hands, but two loving hearts.
They are not meant for stepping upon,
but for nourishing and appreciation.
They remain, however, my support
and a reason for which I choose my paths.
They, with me, climb higher each day,
as they are brought up with pride and dignity.
Those steps will one day reach to higher levels,
that I could only dream of and wish for.
May the levels or plateaus that they reach
be the destinations they aspire for.
For now, I sit and admire my handiwork
and think of where those steps will lead.
