Notes About The Poem

Stained Glass

The photo I take of you
Does not capture you
Or define you
It is a colored shard
Of the stained glass window
You are becoming

The poem you write
Is not your autobiography
So much as it is
A bread crumb
Helping you find
Your way back
To who you once

Simple, profound, wise. Love the phrase "the poem you write is not your autobiography." Just wonderful. Words to ponder. Each step we take is a stone, not dragging us down, in the foundation of the people we are becoming. Really nice, John. Congratulations on your win!

such a sweet thoughtful write, simple and yet so profound. I think I am inching my way up your list with this being about the place where I left off going upward from the bottom of your poems! Soup mail for you.

We should never forget where we came from, especially- who we are. This is deep and it holds so many emotions. Each day, we create a new chapter in our lives. "The photo I take of you, does not capture you" Of course!! Only captures a moment in time. A memory made. ~ Brandy
