Stained

The hurt she felt
to say those words
could not be healed
in a thousand years

For her self esteem
was buried so low
it could not be risen
and feared to grow

Those three words
she was put to say
will hurt forever
through night and through day

For when she was asked
"and why is that?"
she had nothing to say

She just faked a chuckle
and went her way
but the hurt is left
and will always stay.

Yes, we can't take words back once we leave our mouths. Sometimes I just insert a foot and try to leave it there for a while. Words can be very hurtful. Beautiful poem, Maryam!
