Notes About The Poem

poem submitted to "Humorous or Bawdy LImerick" poetry contest, Tania Kitchin, sponsor, 8/29/2026

Spurs and Swagger

A cowboy from Van Horn named Tate
claimed, “Darlin’, I’m Texas’ fate.”
He swaggered so wide
you could drive alongside~
then his spurs got him stuck in a gate.

This is a delightful limerick! The bouncy rhythm and precise AABBA rhyme scheme perfectly complement the humor. The visual progression from Tate's boastful, wide swagger to the hilarious punchline of his spurs catching the gate makes for a brilliantly funny character sketch in just five lines.😂
