Springtime Gloom - Andaree

I think of my mother most in the springtime,
she taught me to grow flowers sublime;
I feel happy when they bloom,
planting at her tomb.
And I sigh,
gloom;
and I cry,
oh, life can be doom !
But wait: Oh, the sweet perfume,
so sweet the birdies that sing and chime;
I think of my mother most in the springtime.

I will echo your other commenters - I like the turn in the poem that says, 'but wait', and the determination to cherish the flowers and the memory.
