Spring's On the Way
The words become much like an old friend,
I’m not even sure of the message they’ll send.
I simply sit down and start to write,
Words part the clouds bringing forth light.
Spring has begun yet it remains cold,
I look into the mirror I seem to grow old.
I can’t wait for the flowers to bloom,
The days get longer they will be here soon.
The birds gather up twigs for their nest,
They seem relentless no time for rest.
Making a home for the young to come,
Soon they will hatch in the warmth of the sun.
I look up at the sky it appears so blue,
I make a list of what I need to do.
Life is returning to what was once dead,
The visions dance around inside my head.
The sun starts to set to mark this day
One last stand to keep darkness at bay.
Soon I will see the stars and the moon,
Spring’s on the way arriving quite soon.
