Spring Whispers Softly
Spring whispers softly
in the desert
wisps of mustard sprinkle
their humble flowers about
lightly dressing the
naked canyons.
Dainty in yellow
simple petals
poke through the
skeletal remains of
last spring's bounty.
Dancing gently with the wind
as if in a brief fling with life
they embrace the moment
with cares as scarce as the rain.
And with a genteel elegance
the lowly mustard blooms.
